    Internet advice 'Router'

Well, i have one pc that is connected to the internet via BT Broadband and then i have 2 more PC's in different rooms of the house but on the same floor.

A Wireless router would be the best way of getting internet access to the other 2 pc's?

Also, if that is the case, what would i need in terms of hardware and what would you guys recommend? Is it easy to set up?

    Sorry for all these questions!!

Wireless router/wireless card for each PC. Personally I recommend the Netgear DG834G (or GT, if you really need speed for your internal network) as a router - it's reasonably priced and an absolute doddle to set up. Also you'll be needing wireless PCI/PCMCIA/USB adapters for each PC on the network - I'd avoid USB unless you have no choice. Also with wireless networking it's generally best to stick to one manufacturer for your kit.

If you get stuck, you know where we are!

Another vote for the DG834G. Very easy to set up - took literally 15 mins including wireless connection. Excellent setup wizard and clear concise instructions with good help section. Haven't had a single loss of connection since bought. Well done Netgear - always liked their stuff

Amazon had an offer on £66 for router and get free usb wireless adaptor.

Thanks guys. So, the DG834G is the one to buy if i want to get internet access to 2 extra pc's? Then i should buy either 2 PCI cards or 2 USB adaptors?

I'd go wired unless you actually need wireless - it's faster and more reliable, not to mention cheaper.

These are going in a new house, so putting wires down is a no no!! Thanks though.

new house could be the best case for wires ;)

How new? As in being built new or what? If it's being built one request that usually gets answered is having conduit in the skirting boards and link holes between rooms etc. it's much cheeper getting done at build time than having someone coming in an doing it latter. Just a thought.

If your just using the wireless network to surf the net/work/email etc then the wireless is fine. For gaming I would recommend a wired connection as I did experience some lag with the wireless setup in WoW. If you are transfering very large files then the extra speed of wired is a god send.

It will be used for internet surfing etc. Don't think gaming on line is needed.

The house is already built (Not mine) so the owner does not want any new holes etc!
