    CPU benchmark puzzle (Abit AN8 & A64 3800+)

I was originally trying to diagnose a stutter in GTR, however I've come across something really odd, basically every CPU benchmark I throw at the CPU seems to indicate that it's running 50MHz to 100MHz faster than other A64s at 2.4GHz (and that everything I can find says that it is running at 2411MHz). What can cause this kind of result? I've compared other AN8s so it's not that this board is just better... I've not got another CPU to try and see if it's that, so I'm just stumped. For the record this is the system -
    Athlon64 3800+ (NewCastle) at 2.411GHz
    2GB PC3200 (4x512MB CAS3) at 200.9MHz
    HIS X800XL (stock settings)
    Raptor 74GB
    LGE DVD+/-RW/-RAM burner
    M-Audio Revolution 5.1
    NeoPower 480w

In your BIOS is there an option for "auto-overlcocking"?? Usually this kinds thing is caused by something like that

Anyway - why complain - its faster innit??

The stutter is probably either driver related or a bug in GTR, if that the only game you get the problem with. I doubt it's anything to do with your CPU speed, unless of course it was running stupidly low. Also, have you tried running the game with your sound card disabled? Have a look on the official GTR site and forums to se if its a know issue too.

I'm not complaining I'm just puzzled , No it isn't and everything I use to measure the clock speed seems to register CPU & HTT clock changes.

oh dangerous_dom, solution was to go to disable the IDE controler (go figure)

So it was driver related (IDE driver) then?

I have nothing on the IDE ports as my DVD is currently external, it's a weird one. Something just seems off...
