Sure you can overclock the 3700 to 2.4 at least!! :D save you a fair bit which you can put towards some good ram! :)
and not to forget you can even challenge FX 55 if you get the right combination of RAM and mobo with your amd64 3700..can easily achieve 2.6/2.7...it is a san diego core...
What mobo and ram would you suggest?
I have been looking at the MSI K8N SLi Platinum (For future upgrades) or the MSI Neo4 Platinum.
I have some Crucial Ballistix 3200 ram here - will that be sufficient ram wise?
Crucial Ballistix should be good stuff. I think it has Micron chips :D
Get a DFI Ultra-D for overclocking. You could get it up to around 2.7GHz easy :rockon:
