Athlon 64: 3700 San Diego vs 3800 Venice

As the title suggests - What is the faster out of the 3700 San Diego and the 3800 Venice?

    Regards,

    Yeah agree with phil

    3700 runs at 2.2 right?
    3800 runs at 2.4?

Sure you can overclock the 3700 to 2.4 at least!! save you a fair bit which you can put towards some good ram!

and not to forget you can even challenge FX 55 if you get the right combination of RAM and mobo with your amd64 3700..can easily achieve 2.6/2.7...it is a san diego core...

What mobo and ram would you suggest?

I have been looking at the MSI K8N SLi Platinum (For future upgrades) or the MSI Neo4 Platinum.

I have some Crucial Ballistix 3200 ram here - will that be sufficient ram wise?

Crucial Ballistix should be good stuff. I think it has Micron chips

Get a DFI Ultra-D for overclocking. You could get it up to around 2.7GHz easy
