a 6600gt will be great for you and allow you to play the games you want. Dont worry about it.
get a new mobo/gpu/cpu in a couple of years time.

Get a 2nd hand X800PRO and Arctic cooler.
Clock it to XT and higher speeds.

AGP will go or if not it will certainly get updated. PCI-Express seems like the way to go for the future. Things are changing so fast with PC's that something more radical may be implemented in the not too distant future!!
