    PCI-E x1 Cards?

    Hi there,

    I was just wondering whether there were any PCI-E x1 cards out there, and what they were?

    PCI-E has been on the market for over 12 months, and I do not recall ever seeing a review of a card that used the x1 slot. I have just got new mobo which is PCI-E, and couldn't help thinking that there were 2 useless slots on the board.

    Anyone seen a PCI-E x1 card at all?? Class? Anyone?

    Cheers,

    killban

    There should be some Marvell/Broadcom Gigabit NICs using 1x, and SIL3132 2 port SATA cards.

    Might be some tuners, but nothing else. Since you ONLY get 2 1x slot (or 1 in SLI configuration due to blockage), so its practically useless (At least you get THREE PCI slots)

    Matrox do a 1x graphics card IIRC. If not then it's XGI, can't remember which for certain.
    PHP Code:
    $s = new signature();
    $s->sarcasm()->intellect()->font('Courier New')->display();

    Hi all

    Right now there arent many products that can fully use the PCI-E x1 slots. I believe that in the future, as more people upgrade to PCI-E mobo's, that more products will become available for x1.

    Thats what I hope anyhoo, as I dont like the idea of having slots that Im not using fully!

    Its all a big marketing thing, A CONSPIRACY...somehow

    You sound like Xcelsion...

    Anyway, I have not seen any 1x devices either. Although when PCI-E was first released I remember the mention that the slots would probably be used for sound cards, so some of those might be in the works. It seems a logical use for the slots anyway.
