Help!
Yesterday I took delivery of a Shuttle ST61G4 along with a 160 GB Seagate Barracuda SATA 7200rpm 8MB cache HDD with NCQ.
Using the P4, memory and DVDr from my old machine, I've built the thing up, going exactly by the instruction manual.
There's a fan that sits on some type of heatsink on the on-board graphics. When I first switched the thing on, it started making a grinding noise. Turned it off, took off the mini fan to see a 'QA' sticker on the base of the fan. Oh how I laughed. I can't be done with the hassle of sending it back to microdirect as it'll probably be weeks before I get it back. However, my main concern [anyone can take a 50p fan to bits ] is on the boot-up/set-up screen thing, where it reads your processor, and memory, it's not detecting my harddrive. It also gives me some form of warning that my boot devices have changed. Don't know what that means. I've gone into the BIOS [not my ideal territory] and tried to run the auto-detect thing on the HD, but nothing.
The HD doesn't have that master/slave pin selector thing, but I assume that's not a prob?
Primary Master: --
Primary Slave: --
Secondary Master: NEC DVDR
Secondary slave: --
...is what it currently looks like.
Boot devices are the CD drive, then the HD.
Help! How do I get it to see my HD? Obviously, I can't install a OS without it seeing my HD.
Cheers.
