overclocking an XP2200 and DFI lanparty

whats the best way to do this.

at the mo i have the fsb at 150, and the voltage cranked up to 1.75 (reading about 0.05 lower) to get just over 2.0ghz out of it.

is there anymilage in cranking up the voltage any further to the chip and ram, or am i gonna be at the limits of the chip more than anything else?

    cheers

If it's an old XP2200 it might be a Tbred A- and they tend to be at their limits at 2GHz. What cooling are you using?

The si-97 is good cooler, kept my 2500+m under 45c load even with 1.85v at 2500mhz. (Did have a pretty high cfm fan on it though)

I was fiddling around with my dads 2400+ thoroughbred B and made it to 162x15 making that 2430mhz with an si-97 at 1.9v. I think that was the fsb limit of the chip though as it was completely stable at 162 but would blue screen at 163 and wouldn't post above 164.

I have a feeling the 2200+ is mulitplier locked at 13.5 so assuming that you it will reach roughly 160mhz fsb the highest you could reach is 13.5x160 = 2160mhz. That would probably take 1.75-1.8v which an si-97 should easily handle. Above 1.9v is a bit much as a basic rule and try to keep temps below 50c too.

A limiting factor may also be the ram, the 2200+ was originally designed for ddr266 (133mhz) ram I think. If you're using 133mhz (ddr266) ram then overclocking up to 160mhz may be a bit optimistic but with ddr330 or 400 ram you should be fine as that will actually be underclocking the ram so it should definately not be a limiting factor.

its on DDR2700 ram, so i'll try bunging it up to 1.85v and see what i can crank out of it.
