    Asus A7N8X-E Deluxe / XP3200 Users.... Temps?

    Hello,

Thanks to everyone for your feedback but this is no longer needed!

Right well I've just setup a Socket A computer for another member of the family. I have an Asus A7N8X-E Deluxe (Updated to the latest bios) and an XP3200. Temperatures seem very high seeing as I'm only booting into bios from cold. I'm getting temps that start at about 30-50 and I've seen it go to 76C at which point I shut down as it is looked like it might damage the processor.

I've re-seated the HSF to check and got the same results. As for thermal material I’m using AS5. So my question is does the Asus A7N8X-E Deluxe have serious problems with reporting temperatures? Or is my HSF not up to the task?

I'd also be interested to hear what other XP3200 users (regardless of motherboard) get temperature wise and what motherboards/HSF’s you are using.

Assuming my HSF is not up to the task, what do you recommend for stock XP3200 use? What do other XP3200 users use? Something cheap would be nice, but I'd pay for quality/performance.

    Thanks in advance,

    Best Regards,

    Mark

I use an ultra crap Thermaltake Volcano 9 HSF with a duct thingy on it, with a cheap sunbeam blue LED fan (LOL) its the noisiest stuff in the world, and I would really like to change it soon. Saying that, I am getting about 43C right now, and the computer has been on for about 6 hours (left it on while swimming). During gaming it sometimes reaches a max of 55C but that doesnt happen so often. My case has good air circulation though... it's based upon the Cheiftec Dragon cases.

Just spotted your sig, thanks for the feeback, very useful. Anyone with an actual XP3200, what HSF do you use? What temps do you get?

Asus A7V600, in my DIY cardbox case I just use MBM5 to test it though.

Lol, right . Well it seems my cooler isn't up to the job. It's a Thermaltake Volcano 9. Wonder what I should get to replace it?
