XP home support dual core as well. The best thing to do to ensure stability is to do a fresh install of XP when using an X2 processor. If you still get problems install the amd x2 windows driver.
i think you need SP1 as a minimum - the RTM version of Xp Home is licensed for 1 core, SP1 for 1 physical CPU
Rtm?
That means the initial release of Windows (i.e. the one that came out in 2001, before SP1).
Release to manufacturing
I asked something similar on the OS board, but the response then was that home did not support dual core (only hyper threading).
XP Home will support up to one physical processor(1-2 cores). XP Pro will support up to two physical processors (1-4 cores).
You can thank AMD and Intel for pressuring MS into the support of dual core CPU's with Win XP Home and Pro.
