    SN95G5 Questions

    With my left over bits from my old PC (friend no longer wants to buy them!) I am thinking of building another PC for my brother. Would the SN95G5 be able to take;

    Athlon 64 3500
    2x 512mb Crucial Ballistix (Also, would it take 2x 1GB Corsair Value Ram? Obviously not at the same time as the Crucial!)
    74GB Raptor
    160GB WD SE Caviar
    GeForce 6800GT
    SoundBlaster Audigy 2 ZS
    NEC DVD-RW Dual Layer (Not sure of exact model number)

    Cheers,

    Craig

    EDIT: Also, what is the difference between the V2 and the V3 (When it is released)

    Yes it would be able to take that, there isnt much difference between v2-3 in fact often the v2 is better than the v3 when it comes to the new amd chips

    One last one, is it worth getting the Shuttle 250w PSU seperate and repalcing the 240w that comes with the SN95G5?

    Nope for one u dont need the extra 10w and also while it will fit the sn95 in order to change the ram you have to remove the psu which is a pain

    The 240w is specific to just a few models with the ram under the psu layout

    Well thats news to me - i thought the v3 was brought out specifically to handle the new venice cores....

    I just bought one of these and went and got a 3500 newcastle to go with it cos i heard any venice other than an E6 wouldnt work. When i say heard, i mean i read it at the shuttle site.......

    So what are the v3s good for??

    While that is true, shuttle recently did a replacement for early sn95g5 buyers that wanted boards to support the dual core amd's and they nearly all got v2 as shuttle found they were better at supporting the dual cores for some reason
