building a new pc have i missed anything

right ive decided i need a new rig for my new place so here are the bits ive decided upon

    1Gb 2x512Mb Corsair, DDR400/PC3200,128Mx64, non-ECC, 184 DIMM, unbuffered, CL2.5, Lifetime Warranty £54.60 £64.16

LN5845 Microsoft Black Optical Value Pack V2 - Multimedia Keyboard & Intelli Optical Mouse £14.49 £17.03

    LN9374 128MB Gigabyte GV NX66T128VP - GF6600GT (NV43 Ultra,1000/500Mhz,128MB DVI,TV Out-SLI,VIVO,PCI-E x16 £95.00 £111.63

    LN9857 Asus TA-210 Black Midi Tower Case with 360W PSU 4USB £29.99 £35.24

    LN10620 AMD Athlon 64 3000 32/64Bit CPU S939 "Venice" 90nm *OEM* £70.30 £82.60

    LN9707 80Gb Samsung SpinPoint™ P80 ATA-150 (7200rpm,8mb) - SATA £34.24 £40.23

    LN9533 19" Hyundai ImageQuest Q995S' DynaFlat-X CRT Monitor Black/Silver 0.25mm 1600x1200 £98.24 £115.43

    LN9153 Asus A8N-SLi (Standard), ATX, DDDR400, PCI-E, Gbit Lan, USB 2.0, 1394, 8ch Audio, 4 x SATA, Raid £71.65 £84.19

LN8089 Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition Inc. SP2 OEM Single £48.05 £56.46

    LN2693 USRobotics PCI Hardware 56k/v.90 Internal Modem (805661B) £11.15 £13.10

this little lot will put me back £660

now i know the psu wont support a full sli system if and when i get another gfx card but that will be upgrade if i get another one and the modem is there because i dont have a broadband connection yet (the new year will bring that)

so can you cast your experienced eyes over my kit and give opinions on it

its going to be for general use and some gaming especially once i get broadband

thank the lord scan do 9 months interest free credit

    cheers

You might want to think about a heatsink and fan for the cpu, since it is OEM it won't come with any.

Other than that everything seems to be there.

Yup either get the retail or a seperate hsf otherwise your cpu will melt or something. You might want to change the HD for SATA but other than that seems fine to me.

I would strongly suggest getting a separate PSU. It doesn't happen very often, but PSUs can blow. It doesn't always happen, but if they do blow they can take out your entire system.

I'm not suggesting that the case/PSU combo here is gonna do that, but I'm currently building a new PC for my son when he reported "Daaaaaaad.... Black smoke coming from the back"

With most recent motherboards, including the A8N-SLI, you won't need a floppy with SATA drivers on it. When installing windows, it automatically picks up that you have SATA hard drives and formats and installs as normal.

There's not really any need for floppy drives any more, especially since you can now boot from USB pen drives if you ever want to run memtest, or flash your graphics BIOS.

Why Samsung Spinpoint? An ex-colleague who builds/repairs PCs didn't find formatting the drive the most pleasant experience. I use Seagate and Maxtor drives.
