    I'm on a 3200 Venice atm and a 256Mb x700 card...

I'm thinking gfx but I've been doing looooads of divx stuff of late and the x700 plays BF2 well enuf for me...

I'm wondering if a bit of an upgrade to both could work, I'll have to figure out the costs but I could upgrade my 3200 to say a San Diego 3700, as this is cheaper than the x2 4200 I could do the gfx as well a bit...

    I would recommend a 3800 over the 4200 without hesitation...and they're only £240 ish atm.

But yes a Sandy 3700 is a good cpu. What are you thinking of upgrading the GFX with/to ?

Hmmm, anyone got a gfx card comparison chart, pretty sure I saw one somewhere here at somepoint, looking at the SD3700 and an x800GT.

Would need to see how these compair to the x700 256Mb I have atm, guessing the SD3700 wont be as fast as the X2 4200 when the dual core kicks in but for normal stuff it'll be faster due to the extra speed and cache no?

Hmmmm, where do things stand on the midrange cards as far as ATi and NVidia go atm, its been a fair few years since my last NV card in my main rig as I went from a GF256DDR to the 8500 then to the 9800Pro to the x700...

Aye, didnt really notice it last time I looked but with the new ATi cards out next month I was trying to hold out as long as possible, chances are I'll have to order the bits before the new cards are actually out tho so maybe the SD3700 and the x800GT for now then altho them x2's are still looking sexual and it would mean me not having to upgrade the CPU again for over 6 months which would be nice, GFX could wait until the new cards I guess and then get something early next year perhaps, gnnnn dunno what to do lol...

Rite had a quick look at the chart, no x800GT but I'm guessing its going to be better than the x700Pro i have atm and the 6600 doesnt seem to quite cut the mustard so looks like I'm sticking with ATi, so x800GT and an SD3700 prolly ordered by the end of the week unless theres anytihng anyone can add that'd change my mind...

X800GT performance is very similiar to a 6600GT if that helps
