550W Silent pPFC Power Supply AMD & P4 Ready 12cm Silent Fan, Anyone used these b4?

me m8s looking for a PSU, and no.. he do not appreciate any good TAGAN advice, he insisted on the PSU I mentioned..

Just wondering how bad are these compared to legends like Q-TEC?

It has 1 12 volt rail at 16amps.

    A seasonic s12-430w psu has 2 12 volt rails at 14amp and 15amp

    A tagan 480 has 1 12 volt rail at 28amps.

Ignore the WATTS and buy the AMPS especially on the 12 volt rails. You can see quality rated PSUs offer MORE even thoujgh they are rated less.

It's like speakers. Loads of WATTS doesn't mean a thing.

Well, did any of these actually explode? I mean, 16Amps will only mean its a terrible overclocking PSU.. rite? I'm sure this should work with a decent stock system no?

I was about to wrap him up in a duffle bag and wallop him till kingdom come.. but then he's driving me car for the next week or so, I'll have to wait till he parks me car back in me garage before anything else happens..

put it this way, "IF" it fails, it could take most of the machine with it (certainly motherboard and psu)

if he's overclocking it, a q-tech wont be as stable with the voltges so the overclock is likley to be lower, or more flaky.

with what he's spending, another £30 on a half decent psu thats quieter, better quality and going to be more stable is well worth the money

The Tagan 330W PSU is 18a on the 12v rail. Makes you wonder about the 550W... or atleast it should. The reason it is cheap is because it is only a 300W PSU + 250W of marketing spin. Marketing spin is worth £0 and a 300W PSU is worth £20-30. The 550W is probably the maximum before it explodes and not what it will run at. You get what you pay for but you think you got more headroom so later you overload it with upgrades and then your PSU goes down and takes all you expensive components with it but hey it's 550W that shouldn't have happened.

My Enermax 370W is 27A total on 2x12v rails and works fine in a new A64 PC with 1 HDD and 6600GT.
