Do i go for (2nd hand):

Winchester 3500 939

Venice 3200 939

About £30 in the price difference. Which would be the best to go for?

Venice 3200+... definitely...

10x multi is plenty for a flexible overclock if you don't have a high HTT capable board. Most board can muster 270MHz HTT so if your CPU is capable, 2.7Ghz is just several clicks away.

11x multi for the winnie is abit of an overkill, I've learnt my lesson. 3200+ is the best balance.. 9x is too small while 11x or 12x are all overkill.

Also, winnies are.. well.. tech'ly inferior to venice.. 4 slots can only run 333MHz and a lower electron resistance at higher clocks. Meaning you'll need lots of volts to overclock..

E3 Venice are very good, havent dealt with E6 rev.. but heard they are pretty good as well..

(Note: If you are going to run stock and not the slightest overclock whatsoever... and will never go past 2 sticks of memory.. Winnies are good enough I suppose)

Not planning on overclocking, never have. Just need a good CPU without spending loads of money!

Itd be a crime not to overclock the venice 3200, its so easy to do. If your worried about long term life. Dont raise the stock voltage just see how far it gets.

If you really wont be overclocking then the 3500 would give you better performance at stock settings.

Venice is the one to go for. The "Winni" is out of date now as it uses the old core technology.

All depends if you are that bothered about being that far behind with technology?

Would i notice a difference using a Venice instead of the Winchester, i.e. Speed, Temp etc? I am toying with getting either the Venice 3200 or the Winchester 3500.
