epox 8rda+ and AthlonXP 2500+ boot problem

I recived my order of both of these today, was very excited. I put the sustem together as it said, i installed the Coolermaster aero 7 HSF with no problems. However, when i swith it on everything powers up but the screen just stays blank, the LED boot thing on the motherboard get to 26 then stops, the manual (un)helpfull says that this is reserved? What the hell is going on as its driving me insane! I want my main system back.

ps, i used a very thin layer of artic silver 3 thermal compound between HSF and cpu.

pps, Please dont tell me in screwed up as this would make my cry. (you have no idea how long i saved on my meeger student pay packet to buy this)

You tried with basic set-up. hard drive, 1 ram stick, gfx card, cpu, mobo?
Reset the CMOS if u havent done that.
Make sure it isnt shorting on any of the screws
Try the componants in other things.

More people will have more ideas.

are you sure you have put the heatsink the correct way around - there is a lip on one edge, and a lip on the ZIF socket.. if you've put it the wrong way round you have more than likely fried your cpu....

couldnt find out what code 26 means on google... check the appendix, as my epox (8k5a3+) has two sections for post codes

Check the heatsink fitting and also try it with the bare kit of mem,GFX and HDD. Also reset the CMOS as this usually worked wonders on my 8RDA+

Its worth bearing in mind that 90% of Nforce2 probs are due to memory as the chipset is very fussy about what memory is in it so if you could get your hands on some other would be handy.
