Just a couple of quick pics. If you can't work it out at first glance then I forgive you, its a bit of a trick. Because the room is so small, the table folds up from beneath the monitor. On the left is my cellphone (Sagem MY-C2 - old but perfect for me) & on the right is my Tapwave Zodiac 2 sitting in its cradle ( :iloveyou: ). Oh its a LG Flatron L1510S btw. I payed £245 for that years ago. All 15" of it.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v5.../i3010002s.jpg
My shuttle (2nd rig in sig) is on top of the chest along with the KVM switch, network hub, left speaker (I have real speakers connected to my PCs) & about 3KM of cabling. My tower (1st rig in sig) is sitting to the left of the chest (on two slats of wood to provide better airflow to the front bottom intake fans). Yes that tower really is that small, less than 13" tall. I'm gonna take some up-to-date close-ups of the machines sometime soon, then you'll see how much you can really fit into a mini tower.
Before anybody asks, its a Richmond Paso, the cheapest strat copy ever made, & the amp (Laney HCM30R) is underneath the bed.

(10 points to anybody who guesses which channel I'm watching).
Just the rest of the important stuff, a SVHS(+ET) VCR, a Phillips CD-i 470, sitting on top is a Sony Professional Walkman (to record tapes for my Sony WM-EX674/MDR-V300 combo I use on the go) & on the left is the Aurex (Toshiba's premium brand from the 70's/80's) amplifier. (And yes, thats some lego on the top shelf, but how could I possibly get rid of R2-D2?).

On digital fortunately here  but during heavy rain the dish outside does like to play with its knickers
Been having trouble with our reception recently, until I figured that the aerial that we put up must be substantially heavier than the POS the installation guy put up, because the upright pole has bent & the aerial is now pointing at least 5 degrees downwards. Suppose I'm gonna have to go & bend that back, my dad is far too 'busy'.
I have just received my new mac mini skin through the post - wooden veneer effect! :D ...so im posting a new pic of it. Anyone else with a mac mini can get skins from skinit.com

Thats cool, such a shame you cant mess with its hardware tho!
I was thinking of getting a mac mini just for its music/design functions - but na I'm not good enough to ask for better yet lol
Very nice btw
I do love the way that Mac technicians gain access to Mac minis. You would think that they would have a special tool to do it, but guess what I was taught to use whilst I was doing work experience in a Mac Centre in Nancy? Yup you guessed it, a palette knife! I suppose using a cheap plasticky case saves on production costs though.
Nice, hehe I can't help think that wrist thing for the mouse looks like a bra.
Is that me or is that a tiny resolution on the LCD? Firefox literally takes up half the screen for the buttons at the top alone
Heh, dont mean to be too elitist or anything, but a Dell XPS?
hehe
Dell XPS - :Oops:Quote:

Also in the pic is the new million-in-one HP thing, with wireless (&wired) network, you can scan. print, fax from anywhere on the Network.
Then we got my Webserver/Random Junk Host, currently being rebuilt with Win2k3 Server.
Webserver
Now for my PCs :)
My Desk
17" LG TFT, great for pretty much everything. MX1000 & Icemat just about in view. Also the Home Cinema Speakers.
Tower & Sub
Tower is the Antec P160, great case, loadsa room for everything. Also my MX1000 & Microsoft Digital Media Pro Keyboard. Sub is part of the Surround Sound set (see below) PC is an AMD 3200XP (Barton) with a gig and a half of DDR-400 Dual Channel RAM, on an Abit NF7-S v2, SI-97 Heatsink with 92mm silent fan. Radeon 9600xt, (next thing to be upgraded) DVD-ROM & CD-RW drives.
DVD Changer
My 5DVD Changer, part of a 600w Panasonic Surround Sound Set, great using the optical out of my PC, Dolby Digital Sound = HL2 crazily scary :shocked2:
Oh and the rear speakers :)
Rear Speakers
My Media Center PC
Athlon 2000XP with 512mb RAM, not bad, its my old desktop :p 19" CRT for viewing of movies. 160GB HDD for ripping my own, legitimately purchased DVDs, before I end up scratching them. Also got a TV Card, which will work as soon as I install an Aerial point
Media Centre & Server
To the right of that pic, my fileserver, just used to host images of CDs, incase I ever break one (happens all too regularly  )
Tell us what ya think ;)
Dave
p.s. my first post :devilish:
nice first post mate:D
well.. i must say, you have quite alot fo kit there.
Very nice kit mate, don't you sit a bit far fromt the screen though?
Woo I see myself in one of your pictures  which means I'm famous
The TFT is actually quite nice further away, you can see the whole screen in a glance, especially helpful with webdesign and certain rather addictive online games (CS, CZ etc) HL2 was great fun on it aswell. Looking to replace the monitor with 2 Xerox Glass Fronted TFTs, when money allows.
Dave
Unreal, u truly are infamous :P
I might consider selling my 2005FPW at some point and getting the 2405FPW (24" widescreen with HDTV capabilies) as my monitor upgrade... apart from that I love mine :)
(I also love any other bigger widescreen monitor, like the HP's and Apple Cinemas lol)
lol so would I, just not had that amount of money at anyone time, that I can justify spending on my PC, rather than my other vice, the Motorcycle :)
Try the other reply,

Unreal,
I'm a retired dude and I'm not techie; that's why I have Dells. They keep me happy. I've got the Dimension XPS with Intel 3.6 HT, 2048 Megs of RAM and 2-160 gig hard drives. I gave my wife my old computer when I got this one, another Dell, Dude; XPS gen2 with an Intel 3.2 , 2048 megs of RAM and 3-100 gig hard drives. Both monitors are Samsung 19", hers runs analog, mine digital. I know there's not a lot of screen space, but I get rid of the bars if I need to see more. The bottom, as you know, are the tabs, then the handy Netcraft toolbar to check on where I surf, then the other Firefox bars.
As I said, I'm retired and am not a techie, so this fits my needs. Of course, you can see I'm a slob, but I know where things are. I'm retired radio, so I've been putting airchecks of my shows into the computer with the Sony boombox which is sitting in front of the scanner. It's not normaly there, and it usually isn't this messy. I tried a couple Walkmans but they just didn't do the job. I needed something with more rewind, fast forward speed and endurance. 35 years of airchecks is a lot, so it's been working overtime. I just don't put things away when I'm in the middle of projects, so it messier than usual. We have limited space as the other side of the room is my Sony 50" LCD HI DEF TV with associated products and stereo gear. I couldn't make them, but that doesn't mean I can't buy them. Maybe I can learn something from you guys, or is that elitists? I'll just be the old fart on the block with a boatload of money.
By the way, the mousepad is one with a picture of an Asian chick and those are supposed to look like boobs. I usually don't use it because I have to put my hand too far under my desktop to use it and it doesn't seem to help my wrists, so I use my old hand Mr. Winkle mousepad which I love.
Genuine Yttri
Lol thats nice mate, but theres no need to rant really... I didn't comment on the XPS, since I have a college mate who has one. You don't have to be a techy to have your own custom PC, I mean I was 14 when I built mine and I recently got a D in my Computing A Level test, for example. Thats no techy, lol
I knew I can spot a bra when I see one
Either way its a nice system mate, sorry if I got you fuming a bit or anything.
I must admit I can see the advantages of having Dells, mainly for the support side of things, I've got one. However with my custom PCs, most of the warrenties are invalidated within about 5 minutes, so theirs little point me buying a dell, if i can build my own. And for any of my friends/family who don't know their Processors from Graphics cards, or lack any willingness to sit playing with it all night, they are perfect. I'm just too prone to 'tweaking' for my own good :)
Dave
p.s. it is a nice system mate, and if you're happy with it, then thats all that matters :)

Drive stealthing is a good idea, adapt the blanking plate that was already there and then stick it to the cd drive tray. Works quite well usually.
Dave
Yea use a blank drive bezel to stealth it. For mine, I spraypainted it silver, but ultimately stealthing is cooler and easier tbh

Dave
The black stuff on the right is the new pc (first I built myself, with a lot of help from Nox  ), along with nice new cordless keyboard and mouse, now I just need to decorate the room to match it :).
The beige bit is probably my next project, it's the pc I was using, I think it needs to look smaller, and probably black as well :D, but I have some jobs around the house that need doing first before I can do that and not get earache about unfinished/not done jobs lol
Sorry guys but, I win :D

Bit pricey though
Nah I'd still get a Dell for that money ;)
The viewsonic is faster, but I am not sure if its actually better. We were told that 16ms is fine and 12 is great. So I went for 8 :D 4 is looking like a bit of an overkill, especially as it appears the slower monitors seem to have a higher quality picture.
As for 1280*1024 - I've been using 1024*768 on my 17" crt before that (even though it can go to 1600*1200). I was thinking about whether i should wait for 1600*1200 (didn't seem to be any tfts with this res in early september), but I decided that it would put less strain on my 9700pro to have it running at 1280*1024. If 1600*1200 didn't have to be the only resolution (as its native), it would be well worth waiting for, but if you get it you are stuck with it. And there is no point to watch a 1600*1200 slide show on a very expensive monitor :D
