Akasa Evo 33 dilemma, anyone done this?

    Alright guys

Just got my shiney new Evo 33 delivered this morning, but my 3500+ aint turned up so I have a bit of a dilemma

I have currently sold my gigabyte 3d cooler pro and need to use another heatsink obviously. But im just wondering if I take everything out today and get it done, how easy will it be to remove the cooling tower and pop in my other CPU? Will it mean taking out my motherboard again, cause if it does ill have to use my standard cooler... has anyone changed CPU wihout having to remove the full lot from the case?

Anyways, looking at it its a monster. With me having temp dependant speed controlled fan channels on my motherboard im not going to bother with the speed controller, just get it all automatic

    Cheers guys

    Chris

Depends on the cooler Im afraid.. I'm not familiar with a Evo33, but you can install most clip based coolers without ripping off the mobo..

I'm was using a 3d cooler ultra.. then a 3d rocket.. and now an xp-90c... gigabytes stuff are a breeze to install as they are practically tool-less and its almost a zippy 3 minute thingy.. installing me xp-90c was terrible as I had to remove my mobo to install it due to its size... okok.. i know Hyper6+ is worse...
    Me want Ultrabook

Yeah I have to remove the motherboard as it has a massive brace to support the size of it LOL but it comes with two springed screws which you can access without removing the motherboard im just wondering if anyone has done it before?

Yeah i did that recently, the first time you install it you have to put on a new backing plate (wait a minute i'm not sure, think its compatible with the standard one, but i changed it anyway) and thats the only time you need to take the mobo out the case. When i wanna change cpu's i just take off the side panel and unscrew the heatsink from the bracket and clean the bottom, take out the cpu and put in the new one, put a dollop of thermal on it and put the cooler back on! Easy!

The only trouble is cleaning it!

    Excellent

Yeah I can imagine, Im thinking of putting a fan filter on the front of the fan so I can easily cleane it and hopefully it should stop and cack getting dragged into it

Think I might go and do all that now then, in the wake of disappointment that my 3500 came today Is it easy enough to install? How tight do I need to screw it in?

Yeah you might as well! Pretty easy just a matter of unscrewing the mobo off the backplate..ahh how i miss my old akasa's removable motherboard tray *weeps* but its done pretty quickly. And i screwed the screws as far as they went, didn't really feel any resistance (they have springs on em) i remember when i screwed on the artic silencer on my old 6800gt i snapped the screws good!

My old case got pretty dusty, but there wasn't any "cack" stuck in the heatsink, just on the fan so i don't think you need to worry about that, but its a good idea!
