    Ok - advice please

I've managed to swap my 512 2100 DDR for 2700 DDR, so I want a new mobo to go with it.

    I currently have a K7S5A board with XP2200 cpu

I know the Abit N7FS board is the DB's , but prolly a bit overkill for what I need

I've been looking at Abit KT400 boards (KD7-S)

    Any good ?

good reliable boards the abit kt400,s,i've had a few kd7-raid's and they perform well too.

what revision core is your cpu?

    do you overclock?

have you thought about getting the nf7(non s)?

id reccommend an nforce2 board, ive not acctauully used a via based mobo for a long time, but i didint like it.

dabs have cheap nf2 boards for aobut £40 i think, or u could try getting a second hand nf7-s (for sale forum, should be a few) or theres one of the other mobos might be slightly cheaper than a nwe nf7-s...

what do you need in terms of features?

I have built 3 systems using the KD7 board and had no problems what so ever with any of them. Nice board.

Go for the Abit NF7 if I was you. Used several of them for systems for friends and not had a single problem with any of them. It will also give you some headroom to overclock in the future if you decide to go down that route

I don't tend to overclock, stock speeds are all I normally require, although the paltry 8500 3D marks I get with my current Xp2200 / 512 / Gf4 Ti4200 just isn't enough considering what I could get with a better mobo.

I'm sure my cpu is a Tbred, although not sure what revision

Features-wise, onboard sound + LAN is ideal

    cheers peeps

NF7 has both. It is a great mobo and you never know, you might get hooked on overclocking like I did
