SN41G Windows Install Probem

I've got an odd ittle problem here. I'm switching my SN41G over from Linux to Windows XP. I have a good running Fedora Core 3 installation on the machine right now that runs just fine. When I drop the Windows XP install CD in the tray and reboot to it, all I get is the screen that says "Setup is checking your hardware configuration..." and then a blank screen. Nothing else happens. The HDD light on the machine is on constant and there is no CD action.

Any idea what is going on? I have tried reseting all my BIOS parameters to fail safe defaults. No dice....

Any help is appreciated...

IDE. Probably a WD, but its been crammed in there for a long time, and I don't quite remember what manufacturer it is. But its not anything special.

Oh, and no. I just get the B&W text about it checking the hardware configuration, and then the screen goes blank and the HDD light comes on steady. That's it.

Oh, and just to make this a little more confusing, I'm not sure if this machine is a SN41G or a SN41G2. The box says SN41G2, but the sticker on the back of the machine says SN41G. Is there any difference between the two types?
