    Hiper 580 Type R issue

This PSU gives of a high pitched cricket noise once windows boots up, it can be heard from 3 metres away, I am almost certain it is coming from or near the 120mm fan.

The funny thing is it doesnt make this noise when im sitting in the bios

or if I stress my CPU such as encode a movie the noise stops, if i then stop the encode, the noise immediately comes back.

    any ideas.

I suppose its just the 120mm fan adapting to different system load.. I'm guessing that the PSU fan is either cranky at low RPMs or its rotor is jammed or something.. when load increases.. so does the PSU fan speed.. when at high RPMs the fan would probably sound fine..

The system usually drains alot of power during boot up, that should explain why ur not hearing it in ur BIOS or during boot.. When the system idles down in windows.. voila..

okay I just done what I should have done at the start, I stopped both fans while the PSU was making the noise, but it didnt stop.

    so its not the fans.

so to some things up it only happens in windows while idling, when the CPU is drawing heavy power from the PSU the noise goes away, but returns as soon as the CPu idles, and its neither of the two PSU fans.

    anyone?

sounds like something is seriously wrong.. I'm putting my money's on either some crappy MOFETS or malfunction post regulators thats juicing itself when they charge up during idle power... RMA it.. please.. do ur other components a favour
