    Graphics card not 'Starting up'

    Just built a new computer

    Abit AN8 Ultra
    A64 3200+
    1 gig corsair
    MSI 6600GT (pci e)

k, the graphics card fan does not start when the computer is switched on, everything else spins to life and the post led thingy gets to "8.3" "Atx power supple ready"

since, we have reseated hte graphics card and reset the cmos, now the post led says, "9.0" "Configure uguru award bios" (out of the manual)

Now, when the graphics card is not installed, the post goes to FF, which means it should be running... so this i believe means that there is a problem with the graphics card, any ideas?

    What PSU is it?

The 20 vs 24 pin power is mainly one of reliability, especially under load.

You MAY be trying to draw too much power or the gfx card may be a duffer.

Can you swap either part out with a freinds?

I ran my old 6600GT with just a 20 pin ATX power connection.
My 6600GT didn't have a PCI-E power connector either, however, my motherboard does have an auxialliary 12v Molex connector to beef up the PCI-E slots.

I found it the other day..... so I'd been happily running a 6600GT without that either for about a month.

You really do need to swap it out in order to test it really, as it could be one of three things:-

    1) A dodgy 6600GT
    2) A dodgy PSU that delivers only just enough oomph to power the system if the 6600GT is taken out (Not much use)
    3) A dodgy motherboard

Try to either stick your 6600GT in someone elses computer, or borrow another 6600GT to try in yours.
