    New Rig

I need a new rig, it's for uni so it's going to be used for music, editing photos and playing games on.
I had a look at overclockers.co.uk and came up with this spec for 900, i've already got a decent mouse and 2Gib or corsair Ram.
If anyone has any suggestions or comments on this spec..or where i can get any of the components cheaper that'd be great!

errr save yourself ££££ and just take the old system plus an AGP 6800gt for £180.

If you overclock the 2600+ to 2.2hz it will do everthing you need including playing games.

The other £700 spend on text books and booze/rent etc. Uni is expensive and the less debt you ahve at the end of it the better. Remember that you will need insurance for possesions when away from home, so check out the cost before buying £900 worth of machine. Endsleigh are a big student insurer or you might be able to get a deal with your folks home contents insurer.

If cash is not a problem and you want to go ahead remember that a 3200 will overclock to 3500 speeds and that the gto² will unlock to 16 pipelines and overclock like hell. It looks like a solid rig .

Perhaps you might like to look around at Scan (free postage for hexus forumites), Tekheads, ebuyer, Microdirect, CPU city, Komplett and Dabs before settling on overclockers because their customer service, should anything go wrong, is questionable.

    Good Luck with Uni too.

Yeah it'll cost you about £100 with endsleigh to insure with accident damage and other contents insurance etc.

Eek! Just remembered got to renew my insurance for this year....

But yeah definitely insure your computer when you get it to uni or extend your parents home insurance to cover you if they have it.

    Edit:

Looking at the spec, it might be worth £15 extra to get a dvd writer. They're surprisingly handy. Also if you can get a cheap oem 3200 you could easily oc it to 3500 speeds and above.

Because it's bigger. Res isn't everything.
