I'm aware the 256MB models are pointless as it's only a 128-bit card, but I'm getting confused looking at the 128MB cards.
The XFX PCI-E GeForce 6600GT according to a Hexus review made in January, was/is the best card of it's kind. But when I start to look at specs I see that the Leadtek WinFast PCI-E PX6600 GT is pre-overclocked and should be technically faster than the XFX.
So which should I go for?

Out of the two, I'd go for the XFX simply because I wouldn't have thought that the overclock is worth the extra money. I normally go for the standard versions, but recently I went with the overclocked version because it was only a fiver more.

Order a ScanFX 6600GT from Scan. It's cheap as chips and guess what - its an XFX one in an XFX branded box

Although... what are these 'Free games' that I would gain for the extra £4 of the retail XFX card.
U cant loose either way to be honest but leadteks 6600gt is a good un'. XFX will do u fine tho

Am I right when I remember that XFX cards come with their own overclocking software?
not that i know off (tho they may do) BFG cards come pre overclocked - is that maybe what your thinking off?
yes it does! on the cd there is a registry key which when you click on/load enables overclocking of the gpu and ram. This registry key has to be reloaded every time you update the graphics card !

I have no knowedge of xfx overclocking software, but overclocking software from board manufacturers is normally not that good, and i think i heard rumours of ATI tool working with nividia cards in future versions?Originally Posted by NightshadowUK

Bearing in mind I'm getting a 6600GT (the XFX) do you think I'd be worth me buying into SLi or just avoiding it and getting a normal NF4 motherboard?
I have the asus a8n sli deluxe but i dont actually use the SLI setup. Mainly because with the mobo's at the moment you dont get the performance of 2 graphics cards. Hexus reviewed some new Asus moboes that have dual 16x PCI-E slots which apperntly in theory means you do get the true power of two Graphics cards. If i were you i would wait until these are available (which i think is november) and buy one of them and 2 graphics cards and see how that works out for you. It should be pretty good. I have heard some good things about these new mobo's

I would have thought with graphics cards, or 6600GTs at least, it isn't the speed of the slot that is stopping performance doubling - it is the way the extra card is used. What I mean by that is there are other factors e.g. other bottlenecks, drivers, diminishing returns, etc.
Personally, I wouldn't bother with SLI. Although it could make a viable upgrade route, you might get a bit of problem since the cards (apparently) have to match, right down to the BIOS.

With the latest SLI drivers, you can mix and match cards now, so long as they are of the same family.
