As a rule, they give them all to Asus who will give you anything between 2 and 10 cables per motherboard. Buying an Asus board is like buying a copy of PC Pro and having to throw away all the inserts, free CDs and leaflets before you to get to what you want; throw out the cables, gameport and the extra headers and you find a motherboard lurking under all that. Out of curiousity, which brand are you referring to? I thought only Intel gave away the single grudging cable these days...
Abit for the board with 4 SATA cables, 1 floppy and 1 IDE
LiteOn for the DVD/RW, 4 screws, 1 audio cable.
That's very poor from abit. A mobo should come with all the bits and bobs to make it work.
I suppose optical drive manu's assume that your mobo manufacturer gave you all the ide cables! OEM optical drives usually come with nowt.

IMHO all boards should come with 2x IDE cables, take this abit one (AX8 btw) it has 3 IDE headers, 4 sata, and 1 floppy, they give u 4 sata, fair enuf 4 headers, 1 floppy, fair enuf, 1 header, 1 IDE, hang on, what about the other 2 headers...
I've yet to find out from asus why I'm supposed to do with 73 USB headers
What REALLY annoys me is when bundled cables are 2" long.
lol, for some there's too many. DFI for example, bundle with any lanparty is a bios extractor, how many time a u use that anyway ?
Primary kit:
Fuji S5 Pro - Nikkor AF 50/1.8 - Nikkor AF 85/1.8
Epson RD-1
Film Kit:
Leica M3 - Summicron 50/2 DR - Zeiss ZM 25/2.8 - M-Rokkor 40/2
Olympus OM2n - Zuiko 50/2 Macro - Zuiko 50/1.4 - Zuiko 35/2.8
I agree - you can never have enough ide cables, not everyone has moved to sata.
2" long cable now that would be funny - shots please.

But aren't IDE cables one of the things that often get ripped from old computers anyway?
I agree it'd be nice to have more complete bundles and things like CD-drives etc should come with all they need, but out of anything that's progressed through my series of computers I think the IDE cables have been with me the longest (and I've got several left in shells of computers I'm sure).
