    NF7-S (v2.0) sound fuzzyness

    Hi all.
I was happily playing some cs on my computer last night and the night before, and then after a bit of playing i noticed that the sound (using sound storm) went all fuzzy and unclear.

Is this a problem with these boards? or is it just in cs? doesnt seem to happen in any other game...etc gta3, tony hawk4.

You could ensure all drivers are up to date and that you install any CS patches.

I dont touch CS these days... to full of immature people, racists and other lamers and cheaters.... not that im saying you ae, but Im sure you know what I mean.

If its just CS and it appeared out of nowhere, my guess its something to d o with the auto update system steam have going. Maybe a tweak to there audio engine has nt gone to plan. You never know.... my reccomendatiopn... get yourself a copy of BF1942 and download Desert COmbat.... I've never looked back...

    Make sure you have

    Lastest drivers
"line" input muted on the soundstorm pannel
you dont have a nasty ground on your case (unlikly though)

If that doesnt work, it could be an IRQ conflict - you'll need to change your PC to a non ACPI machine (ill let you know how to do this if the others dont work)

the NF7-S has problems with the sound. There's not much you can do about it if you have upgraded all drivers and BIOS versions apart from getting a new sound card.

I thought that was fixed with v2.0 if not 1.1?

1.2 and 2.0 both shouldnt have any problems.
1.1 is the same as 1.0 but with 4 CPU cooler mounting holes.

I had a slight problem with the sound but was easily fixed with a small heatsink on the Nvidia chip, since then... not a problem.

    Wow, lots of replies
    a) I like playing cs with my brother on a LAN against lots of bots, i had a proper server as my friend makes them so i used that, as i had rcon whoop. and finally my other friend has a 1mb so me my bro, his bro and him all played on that. Which was also cool. (just some jusitification there....)

    b) I did have a v1.0 Nf7-S and that had the same problem

    c) running the full cs1.5, and hl patch 1110.

    d) im using two speakers, as i cant afford 5.1/6.1.

Ill start downloading the latest chipset drivers now. let you know how i get on.

    Thanks

blockers & cky2k, have you tried the remixed drivers from Mwarhead's site, what he has done is taken the newest available drivers for sound, video, ethernet e.t.c. and put them together in the same package.

The package has the very latest build of the audio driver for Nforce which are 3.68, they are supposed to be the best drivers so far perhaps they might help with your sound fuzzyness?

    Here's the link
    http://mwarhead.motherboardfaqs.com/index.htm

The sound drivers seem much better to me, very clear and sharp

Nice link Ravens Nest ... I wish nVidia would be clearer about the diff parts of the drivers ... it should be simpler to know you have the latest of each ... and get them in 1 pack too. I guess they're too busy trying to get the woeful FX cards running on par with the cheaper and superior ATI equivilents.

Yeah Mwarhead seems to be doing us Nforce users a real service by bundling the latest together.

Nvidia are probably putting all resources into drivers that squeeze everything they can from the FX, thats like getting blood out of a stone

Did you hear about the rumours of DX9.1 with official support for FX's lower precision even though it is below the minimum for Direct X 9 certification? supposedly 60% improved pixel shader 2 performance.. (With lower IQ, i'd guess)
