    Mysterious Audigy 2 Problem

    Hey guys, just decided to give my pc a little boost today by adding a nice audigy 2 and an extra stick of ram to boost things a tad with some spare cash i discovered i had.
    Anyway, the audigy 2 slided in nicely as most PCI cards do, despite me getting peeved after several attempts of clicking both catches down on my newly aqquired ram stick (installing ram never has been a strong point of mine, too darn awkward my case is! ) anyway now to the point of my post -
    I have installed the audigy II drivers on a fresh xp home install and for some queer reason, when i playback music on MP10, certain speakers emit popping/cackling when at slightly higher volumes.
    Im hoping this is just a stupid misconfiguration of speaker connections, as these darn edifiers just aren't labelled well at all, so im about to spend an hour rewiring speakers (fun fun fun!) besides this, if the problem persists, can anyone think of anything that could be causing the problem? And i'm talking low volume, volume level 100 in media player, and minimum from Mute on the edifiers, so i doubt im straining it at all. With my terratec aureon 5.1 fun 16bit, i used to run DFX to boost the audio volume, and also turn the edifiers up louder when content had low volume, and experienced none of this!
    Besides this tho the audigy does give a lovely sound, with much better clarity of audio besides the popping, cracking and slight hisses every now and again from a random direction.
    Any ideas?
    P.S My subwoofer's gone silent too....

    Hmm seem to have put an end to the majority of the cackling/popping with reducing the master volume from the creative control panel, however on the odd occassion a speaker might emit a random pop when its not even emitting any sound... im gonna move the card to another PCI slot, away from everything else

    Its not a mysterious problem. Its a creative problem. I wouldnt be suprised if they even had a patent for it.

    That was a conflict between devices which used a lot of PCI bandwith, and old old VIA (KT266) chipsets. It is not an issue anymore.

    Try moving your Audigy to another pci slot as you maybe picking interference up from the cpu

    Is the sound chip getting hot?
    PHP Code:
    $s = new signature();
    $s->sarcasm()->intellect()->font('Courier New')->display();
