    Pre-Built PC!

My mate is planning on getting a new PC for christmas, and is looking to get a pre built pc including a monitor etc. He has a budget of £500, and has had a look at some Pcs at Dell, but it seems you have to pay a lot more than the base price to get something decent. He is looking to get a decent graphics card, HDD, and ram for the price, I'm pretty sure a good rig can be found. And would be nice if it had PCMIA, as that is what his current wireless card is.

Can anyone suggest pre build pcs, or places to look that you can get a fairly good setup for £500ish.

    Thanks.

The only PCs I know of with PCMIA slots are the Sony's, but theyd be way out of his price range. Have you tried looking at HP/Compaq?

Hmm, well he said PCMIA would be nice, but not essential.

I'll have a look at those.

You may be able to locate a pc card that'll take the pcmcia network card... but to be honest, a good low-cost pci network card isnt that expensive.

Yeah, probably easier to get a new network card.

    Found this:

Go to www.pcnextday.co.uk and have a look around some of the machines there are very well priced and most come with some varient of a 6600 wich would be far better than a 6200 in the hp.

Or maybe try MESH, Kustom PC or Scans system builer and see what u can come up with

Yeah, looked on mesh, seems quite good.

I think he has decided to go custom built now, which is good, as we can get him more for the money.
