    Problem with fan

Can anyone help me with a problem I'm having.

My main cpu fan on the pc is always speeding and then slowing down, its not so bad when its at a constant speed but when its up and down it sounds like an air raid siren and is really off putting.

I need to prob get a new cooler for as its just the cpu fan at the mp but I bought a Zalman and that did the same thing.

I've tried playing around with the temp settings and the fan is set to max on my fan controller,
    I'm just confused.

    any advice would be great

    thx

Change the setting in bios where it ups the fanspeed when your temps go up. .

depends what motherboard you have. every motherboard has varied settings. if you told me i could help you more it should be in "pc health" in bios.

Install Smart Guardian from your driver CD. You can fine tune your fan speed so that it speed up slightly when the temperature goes up only a bit. The BIOS only have about 4 speed stepping therefore when you're at a certain temperature the BIOS keep jumping between speed levels causing those annoying noise.

I just switch off my CPU fan so that it doesn't noise at all though.
