Abit an8/Aurora...Nothing?

Has anybody else fitted this combination, or probably any Abit socket 939 in a gigabyte Aurora case?.

I have just put this together & when I try to power up it does nothing! no fans or anything. The 5vsb led is lit so there is power to the mobo.

I have asked in the "help" section (with a much fuller description) but I thought I would ask here because there are more people viewing! hope nobody minds but I am getting desperate!

Obviously I may have a dead mobo but I want to make sure before I go to the hassle of RMAing

take out the screws to the case 1 by 1 most likely one is shorting the mobo on the case.

And im sorry if im insulting you, but you did use standoffs when screwing it into the case?

also try booting it up on the box or something, i always do that before screwing anything into my case.

Yup all on standoffs, and I have tried with the mobo resting on a sheet of cardboard...all the same!

The only thing I have had to do that is odd is that i have had to use the lotes backplate of my msi board as the screws on my ht101 cooler are just too short to reach the thread on the Abit one, but it is insulated with plastic so I dont see a shorting problem there.

Well if it doesnt boot out of the case then the case didnt do anything rite ? Why dont u check other component as well ? And u sure u plug the power button in to the rite pin (no insult) ? I notice u got a centurion as well. might worth to check out with the centurion

Sort of where I'm getting to. The only thing is if the mobo was DOA! I've just got the centurion out of the loft (last resort, I really didn't want to have to re-buid it all again!) to try.

whilst the mobo was not "in" the case I was still using the case power switch. I have seen a post on the Abit boards where something similar happened to someone else but this was in an older tower and from what I understood from his post the switch used tye common earth on the front panel circuit board, and this prevented it from delivering the voltage to the pins (sorry but it wasn't very clear!) but on the Aurora the switch seems to be just 2 wires to the mobo so I don't see how it has any conection to the common earth.

Try just shorting the pins with a paper clip, if it doesnt boot up then its not a switch issue. THen try the same on the green wire and a black wire in your 24pin connector, jsut to eliminate the psu.

Yeah good idea . The tip of the pen do the job nicely too
