memory Q:
im getting alot of jerky stuff happeneing in games recently, just got a new rig together
3200,7800gt etc and im stuck with a gig of corsair at the moment. now my problem is cash, like everyone i guess :)
but i need to know if 1 gig of decent branded ram will be better than 2x1gb of generic stuff? the generic stuff seems ok, at 3200@2.5,3,3,6.
anyone think this is a bad idea? surely more ram means better performance anyways right?
:D

In my experience you don't get a real-world noticable difference by using lower latency RAM....but depending on what your running, you can see remarkable differences by having more RAM.
Its all a case of what you are specifically using the system for.
If your playing BF2, FarCry, FEAR etc, then the 2GB will defiantly be noticable.

yeah thats exactly what i use this pc for, gaming only :D
so 2gb of the cheap stuff will do me fine then? i dont ocerclock so thats not an issue

2gbs of the cheap stuff with cas 2.5 would be better.. overclock or not, cas 2.5 is a huge improvement over cas 3.0... the improvement between 2 and 2.5 is marginally smaller tho..

excellent, cheers guys

Im not a fan of generic stuff. But, value ram is perfect.

Just make sure you buy a decent brand e.g. Corsair Value Select, Crucial.
