7800gt and Power: Advice needed

Just looking at the BFG 7800gt spec and it says it needs minimum 400W system power supply (with 12V current rating of 26A or more). The 26a bit is what worries me, i was thinking of getting a seasonic PSU but I can't find the current rating all I can find is this http://www.seasonic.com/pdf/datasheet/01PC/S12.pdf wich seems to look like it only has 17a. Am i looking at the right thing???. Looking at the Tagan site and they have a proper data sheet http://www.tagan.com/pages/products/...an_UK_mini.pdf and it seems that this power supply has 32a.

SO the question is: Is the Seasonic able to power a 7800gt?
And am i reading the specs right?

ive got the same card here, and a antec psu which has dual 12v rails, looks like that seasonic has too. my antec is rated at about 18a per rail. and i think im right in thinking that 2 rails at 18a will mean 36a on the 12v feed from the psu. runs fine though

I would say the Seasonic should definately be able to power that. Just for comfort factor, I have a mate with a 360w Seasonic PSU, which powers 2 harddrives, Athlon 3000, some Asus Socket 754 board, 2 DVDRW drives, Audigy 2 ZS and dum dum dum.... a 6800 Ultra AGP version. And yes, the 6800 Ultra demands far more power than the 7800 GT.

I would personally go higher than 400W - it's better to have too much power than not enough. The 7800 series aren't actually as hungry as the 6800s, but I'd still have a 480W minimum. Quality of power is also a consideration - voltage fluctuations cab be a pain especially if you're thinking of doing any overclocking. Will you be looking to run a SLI configuration maybe in the future?

I know its best to exceed the minimum spec, not planning on going SLI - i was just wondering how you work out the current and weather the 26a needed was on a single 12 line or weather its both 12 lines combined thats the key
