Better in most cases, it depends what youre talking about, certainly for games.
Intel dont have anything that can touch a 4000+ in games, although if youre looking to spend that kind of money id reccomend one of the x2 processors
the x2 was my first choice, then after much thinking i saw that the x2 is much more expensive and slower than 4000. they are good for multi task. but other than that i do not see much use of it. it is not like it will improve your game will it?
In ways they can improve your games.
If you're someone who likes to have a lot of processes open(35+) then theres a good chance that a second processor will be able to take some pressure of the primary, since those little apps will need CPU time some of the time. On a single core that means your CPU only gets to use maybe 80 or 90% of its power on the game, since other stuff needs CPU time as well. But with dual core, 100% of one CPU can goto games, and any percentage of the other core can go towards other apps.
Generally people are buying X2's tbh, since they offer smoother windows performance, the ability to properly multitask, get rid of all the annoying stops and starts that windows dose sometimes when you ask it to do too much, and overclocked, still make extremely respectable gaming CPU's.
Also bare in mind that even though current games don't directly get any advantage from multiple processors, that this will not always be the case. We are already seeing multi-threaded gfx card drivers becoming available, so it's only a matter of time until we'll start seeing games that take advantage of this.
I think it's a case of if you have the cash for an X2 then go for it :O)
besides.. clocking an X2 to 4000+ clock is as easy as juicing an orange..
Mmmmm...juicing an orange :)Quote:
