A8N SLI now toast :-(

Hi All,

It appears that my motherboard has died. All seemed fine until recently, when the motherboard started blue screening. I started pulling things, and eventually I got something working.

All seems well, until I plug in the 12v ATX connector. Then everything dies. The fans move very briefly, and then... nothing. The little green status light stays on throughout.

I've tried connecting another PSU, but I get exactly the same problem. Same with memory and graphics.....

Ideas anyone? I'm real p*ssed off. Considering just ditching it and getting a DFI Lanparty....

Something similar happened to me just yesterday.
Instead I'm ditching my DFI Lanparty and bought an A8N SLI Deluxe.
My NF4 SLI-D doesn't response to the power button now, and my 6600GT doesn't work as well.

I'm having problems with my Asus as well, although it hasn't completely died. Gonna give it a last going over on Friday and then it'll be RMA time if it doesn't behave itself.

Man everyone seems to be having ultra bad problems with their A8N SLI, in fact its funny, EVERYONE I know who owned one has needed to RMA it at some point.

Hmm, if I was you I'd open up your case, turn it on and make sure the chipset fan is spinning. A common problem with the A8N SLi Deluxe is for the chipset fan to stop, and you can get a free replacement from ASUS (best to phone them, emailing seems to take forever). I would give this a go first if I were you. For a quick fix solution take the fan out, give it a spray with WD40 and then put it back in, this should get it up and running fine again until your replacement arrives.

Hmmm, think I will check my fan tonight.......My pc started locking up yesterday, completly out of the blue and I also have the same mobo....

Are they easy to replace with an after-market component?

Ive got that mobo - my first one didnt work! when i turned it on there was a red light on, no green light! iam guessing if the green lights on then it must be okay. just take it all apart give it a clean put it togethor again and make sure nothing is touching the case

Great plan, but for the fact that I've got the premium version with no fan! ;-)

Does anyone have the phone number? I called the UK number, and was told the only way to get it sorted was through email. I submitted something yesterday, and have heard nothing :-(

I've had mine since they came out - Dec 2004 I bought it and I've not had any issue with mine as yet. The fans all running fine and dandy

youve got water cooling? checked there isnt a leak or any moisture inside?
