    Talking My Overclock Attempt

So far I have hit 2185Mhz with my Barton 2500.

External Clock 198 (396mhz Dual DDR)
    Multi 11
    Mem Timings on aggresive, 9 - 4 - 4 - 2.5

    CPU FSB/DRAM 6/6
    CPU Interface Enable

    CPU Core Voltage - 1.625v
    DDR SDRAM - 2.6v
    Chipset Voltage - 1.6v
    Agp Voltage - 1.5v

    Here is my setup,

    NF7-S 2.0 Latest Bios
AMD ATHLON XP 2500+ (AXDA2500DKV4D AQXEA)
    2 x OCZ EL DDR PC-3700 / 466mhz / Gold Edition
    Radeon 9600PRO
    Levicom 350W PSU
    2 x Maxtor Diamond 120G on Riad 0
    SLk800 with Smart Fan 2

I can seem to break the 200FSB barrier, I get Rounding Errors in Prime 95, do I need to increase my volts to get more from my chip?
I see people here are hitting 215+ FSB and thats with 3500 memory! I sure something is holding me back.

I am also getting crap 3Dmark2001 results, from 6500 to 9300.

    Any help is welcome.

for 3dmark, make sure you dont have anything in the background running (firewall/antivirus etc), and that you dont have FSAA or anything like that on...

like swafe, i'd say up the volts you can easily put 2.7v through the ram, dunno how much yuo want to put through your barton tho.. i'm putting an extra 0.2v thru my t-bred (1.5->1.7v), but its upto you... what are your temps like also?

6500 to 9300, thats quite a range .. my MX440 can pull 7200 with some clocking!

I'd add some voltage - just a little tho! Maybe add a little RAM voltage and tighten those timings, 9-4-4-2.5 isn't a great sucsess, I'd try to get it to 8-3-3-2 if you can!

Definitely your vCore. Remember, the default voltage for a 2500+ is 1.65v. Up it to 1.675 and it'll give you some headroom to get to 2.3...like me .

    Sorry about the big pic.

Dude, JPG or GIF format please!! I've got cable, but still. Think about those who're on 56K.

BTW, in regards to the error in Prime95, you might be having heating issues or that you haven't upped the vCore enough. Some people might say it's your RAM, but from your earlier post (those timings aren't that aggressive I must say ), they'd be able to handle 200FSB easily.

    Re: My Overclock Attempt

    Wow!

I've got my 1700+ at 200 * 11 = 2200 MHz and if I tried I could get it further, but just couldn't be bothered!

Also I have my RAM at 6-3-3-2.5!

put ur ran/fsb down to 166( 333ddr) or around there.. now up the multi to give same speed as 200 fsb would, that show u know whats causing it...

if ur over 50*c, u shouldnt try more volts, it wont help
if ur not, stick it upto 1.75v, maybe 1.8 which tbh isnt a huge increase, ur chip should be safe upto 0.25v over stock problably more but i wouldnt try it without decent cooling. 0.5v increase is not enuf for the cpu at that speed, also the more volts u increase by, the less it will help u clock, for example on mine this is what i need to be stable:

stock speed: 1.47ghz (xp1700+) stock volts: 1.6, needed stable volts 1.53
    speed: 2ghz, 1.6v
    speed: 2.1ghz, 1.68v
    speed: 2.2ghz, 1.83v

2205mhz is the max for this chip, without a volt mod (mobo cant give more than 1.83v...). ive tryed 2220mhz but its just too much though 2205 is compleatly stable, i think ill need large volt increase to get just 15mhz more stable!
