B&Q might do fine stuff but i doubt it. Probably worth tryin places that sell car repair stuff, like Halfords, wet and dry is used for smoothing filler, local car spares place probably worth a try, or a good tool shop.

Years ago, I bought some Oakey Flexible Wet & Dry (4 sheets). They are excellent and give very good finish - if you've the patience... Make sure you're working on a very flat surface and your movements are consistent.

Kustompcs.co.uk sell a kit of everything you'd need to lap your heatsink. I lapped an Xdream heatsink with that kit, and although it looks a little bit pricey, it's worth it, and saves the bother of driving allover town trying to find different grades of sandpaper..

£10 !!!!! get down to halfords for wet n' dry fine grade is what you want (P1500 the higher the grade the smoother the finish). you must use it wet though. finally use some fine wire wool for a real mirror finish.

You probably won't need the wire wool if you do a good job with the wet & dry...

When i lapped mine i taped some 1200 girt Halfords wet n dry to a pane of glass "borrowed" from the greenhouse.
    Took 45mins of constant lapping.
    I used it wet.

Improved temps a little but my cooler is only a volcano 9.
