    Keyboard/Mouse recommendations?

I've decided that the mucky old HP keyboard that I borrowed from work, and the cheapo mouse I got free with windows just aren't good enough now. Can anyone recommend a keyboard/mouse combo up to about £50 that will perform well in windows and be accurate enough for the odd game of Far Cry? I'm not incredibly bothered if it's USB or PS2, and I think I'm steering towards wired rather than wireless, as I can't really be bothered with all the changing batteries stuff, and they don't particularly need to be mobile.I was looking at Microsoft or Logitech, but both seem to have such a bewildering array of choices, I think it's best to talk to people that might have used them...

Any help/passing on of knowledge gratefully recieved.

Mouse: MX518 or MX510. You decide how good you need the gaming and how much you want to pay. Can't beat these unless you go G5/G7 which breaks your budget.

I use an HP keyboard I "borrowed" from work too - it's slim, black/silver and it works fine, the keys have a decent feel and travel, and it suits me. Sometime I might get one of those cool backlit keyboards, but they're along way down on my shopping list.

Agree with the MX518, superb mouse, i have one.

Keyboard, a little less important anything microsoft really, personally i think i may hunt down a dell as i love mine in work. This logitech im using is just too noisey.

For a mouse I recommend the one I bought a month or two back, the Razer Diamondback Plasma LE, but they're just about to release a slightly better model, but it's £42 on it's own. The Plasma is only £36 from overclockers.co.uk. It's got a 7 foot cable, so it's actually pretty mobile too .

    Razor's site

My keyboard's just a Saitek Eclipse, but I also love it.

Im using a wireless MS Multimedia keyboard & an MX518 and its probably the best combo I've used, apart from the keyboard acts really weird when recieving a call/text message on my mobile.

the mx518 mouse is a must have but you could go for any logitech keyboard id say.

logitech make good keyboards cos they dont make an annoying clicky sound when u push a key!

    it gets soo annoying!

OK, cheers guys, I'll have a look at all of those. To be honest, I've cleaned out the keyboard, got rid of all the staples, etc (who takes staples out over their keyboard?) and I'm liking it a bit more now. Which gives me more to spend on a mouse, I suppose...

I've ordered the MX518. £32.48 inc del from Amazon, which isn't bad, considering all the other sites seem to charge at least that before delivery.

On my perusals for a mouse, I came across this article:

    http://www.trustedreviews.com/article.aspx?art=1959

about the Saitek Eclipse, which seems quite good.

It's a bit over budget, but then the price for the mouse I bought was more than I actually paid for it...

IMO it's the best looking and practical of the backlit keyboards, and I've been tempted to get it myself.

I went for the Microsoft Digital Media Pro Keyboard, and the MX1000, which breaks your budget me thinks. However if you were to get an MX518, then you'd probably be just inside your £50 budget.
