High Temp Problem
Volcano 11 + , Barton 2500 at stock speed and voltage, idle in windows - 53.5 C ? Something just aint right here....
Obviously must have mounted the heatsink incorrectly because there is no way that cpu should be running that hot. Used Arctic Silver 2.
CPU Temperature : 53.5°C / 128.3°F
Auto Fan Speed Control : No
CPU Fan Speed : 4091rpm
CPU Core Voltage : 1.65V
Will try to remount heatsink when I get the chance but is there anything else that could possibly be contributing to the high heat levels?
Case is a Chieftec Dragon with a 80mm fan at the back and front.

1. Make sure front fan is blowing air into case and rear fan is blowing it out.
2. User a super thin layer of as2, so it's see through. (clean as2 off HSF and CPU b4 re-appling, use a tiny bit of nail varnish remover. Make sure to get all the as2 off both.
3. B4 putting HSF back of CPU, put some as2 on the HSF and then wipe it off gently, so there is still a bit on HSF, but so much you can see it (as2).
4. Try your system with case/side off.

Whats the airflow like in your case? I have a SLK900 on my 2500 and it gets damn hot due to poor case airflow

My temps on my 2500+ are quite high as well! (In the 50's too) After a lot of fiddling and re-applying AS2, I've given up.
It seems stable at stock speed, but I do have probs when running at 11X200 1.65v, I think the bios was reading 58 C. This is using a Alpha 8045 + some random fan (YS-tech i think) + AS2 + decent air flow in my case!

TBH I wouldn't worry if you system is running stable. Different boards report different temperatures with the same setup. If you are really fussed take the heatsink off and the thermal compound then reapply it THINLY, not much else you can do

Bah my temps are really high with me clocked 1800+ Seems to run ok though.
Fix

Try flashing your bios to teh latest version. Some boards have fixes for temp misreadings
-
sounds alright to me :) what temp does it get to under load ?
-
What mobo is it on Rouge ??
-
It's an MSI MS-6712 (VIA KT400) .
Haven't had the time to try much yet but will try to reinstall next week as its half term.
BIOS is latest.

And here I'm worried about how my JIUHB averages 56 C at the speed and voltage in my sig, permanent 100% load thanks to UD. Though, for summer, if I can't lower my case temps by more than 5 C, I'm gonna lower my overclock to about 2.2GHz.

OK remounted the HSF with few compound.
Now idling at approximatley 42 ish degrees :)
The arctic silver 2 was a friends so I just used some Premium Coolermaster compound I had and it seems to be the business so far. O/C'in to ensue :D
