usb splitter?
hello. I have 2 pcs both with usb (well duh!).
I also have a cordless optical desktop, which operates through usb. What I want to do is usae this single desktop on both pcs, I.e. use a splitter that will let me connect it to both pcs and then switch whenever I want. This will go well with my switchable dvi/dsub lcd :)
any ideas?

Yeah, there is lots of these devices around... pricey for what they are, but available....
Just not sure on where to buy.... I hear belkin are good for them though

Well.....you could get a KVM switch so you can share the keyboard and monitor aswell m8!!! You would need a USB to PS/2 adapter though.

Malteez@ my desktop (keyboard AND mouse) work through a single usb connector. all i need is a usb splitter.
the lcd has dvi and dsub input, so i can switch between pc (dvi and pc2 (dsub) at the touch of a button :)

really he just wants something that will split USB, i could do with one as well, basically, i've got 2 pc's with 2 separate monitors, but i could do with a usb switch that could switch the use of my keyboard and mouse between them.

concentrate on the pic above, fondie. the 4 USB-B holes link to PCs, a single USB cable (from, say, a hub containing mouse & keyboard) links to the USB-A port. the button on the front selects which PC to switch to. exactly what you want, no?

I use what directhex posted. It can be found at ebuyer for £18.
It only allows you to share only one device but using the power of USB, and the use of a USB hub, you can share more devices through the one switch!
So using these two devices and my Samsung 181T monitor I can use 2 PCs at once without an expensive KVM switch.

excellent :)
thanks for the input guys, esp directhex

I got one of those Belkin switches without a case (just the PCB). And no cables.
Well, it's not doing anything
