    Graphic Card 128mb or 256mb

    i was just wondering if getting a 256mb graphic card would make a difference that getting a 128mb graphic card. can you people help me out on deciding... whether to get 256 or 128mb?

    depends what your card your getting. For instance a 128mg geforce 6600gt is probably not much slower than a 6600gt with 256mg of on board RAM, because the 256mg card does not have the speed in its core or enough pipelines to send data into the extra memory it has. You should be looking to get a card with 256 on it but make sure its not wasted. Wich cards are u looking at?

    i am getting a geforce 6600GT. so what u are saying is to just get a 128mb rite? is there a review where they compare a 128mb against a 256mb for 6600GT?

    For a 6600GT there probably wouldn't be much point in getting the 256MB version instead of the 128MB version - I doubt you'd see much performance increase, and the 256MB probably costs more as well.

    think the differnce between the xfx 256 is and the Leadtek 128 is £15, its not that much money to be honest but i do rate Leadtek kit and i up untill recently was going for the Leadtek 6600gt if i was on a tight budget its where id go now

    I was told the 256MB 6600GT was actually slower than the 128MB version.

    the 256MB version is a little slower in low res games, but it does give a little imporvment if you playing >1024.

    Although be careful as its not always DDR3 they use.

    For £15 though - it is worth it.
