    Asrock 939Dual-SATA2

Seriously thinking of getting one of these - just wondering if anyone has one yet and what their opinions are.

Also does anyone know if you can use the 939 Opterons with this?

Feel free to discuss the board in this thread even if you havn't got one...

I have one, and I'm very happy with it.

It runs stably and, with BIOS updates, is able to overclock quite well. The only problem is that voltage mods are required to get high Vcore or Vdimm (max vcore is 1.45v without mods, which is fine for many).

And yes it does support 939 opterons and Athlon X2 CPUs.

Good luck with it, hope setup goes well, what other bits are you putting it together with?

It ships with the older BIOS revision, which is 1.10 I believe. Update to 1.20 is required to enable the overclocking options. But it runs rev E CPUs (San Diego and Venice) straight out of the box, so opterons aren't a problem whichever BIOS you have.

Opteron 146, 1Gb of Geil value DDR ram (hope to get another gig soon), Samsung 160Gb spinpoint, Audigy 2 platinum, 9800 pro AIW. Will have stock cooling to start with but will probably change to a zalman or similar at some point.

Well the board and an opteron turned up today. Got it up and running quiet quickly, only thing I need to fiddle with is my memory. Cant get it to boot in dual channel mode, will have a fondle it and see what happens.

Quite interested to see some results for these boards. They seem to be one heck of a bargain, and if you can OC them aswell. May have to "upgrade" my second PC with my venice 3000+.
    cheers

Any luck getting the dual channel going? Would be a dissapointment if it doesn't work.

Currently using a Tagan 420W PSU.

Also I only noticed when I got the board that it only requires a 20-pin ATX connector. Of course 24-pin connectors are usually backward compatible.

As far as overclockability goes, it's doing well at 270Mhz HTT. Like I said before, the only drawback is the lack of voltage options.

Not yet, but I think its my RAM, I had it all set t auto so will try and fddle a bit. Might be able to borrow some better stuff at the weekend if I dont have any luck fondling my stuff. Other people deffinetely have dual channel working, that what makes me think its my setup.

Just learnt a valuable lesson, if you leave the cmos reset jumper off, mobo wont work. Put jumper back in normall position and cmos charges and happy PC again
