Are you using the onboard graphics? Cos if you are then thats your problem right there, onboard graphics are teh suckage, the are prob only set to be using ~ 64mb of ram. basically just dont bother even trying, 9600s are marginal at best for modern gaming, since hexus reviewed it as a mediocre card over a year ago, and that was the 256mb version.

Ye its onboard graphics using 128mb. I would have expected closer to 10,000
But my main issue is the whole system is poor

    Hi mate

I just put together a system like this for my mate and there were no issues.

It had a 7800gt in! got around 7000 marks in 3dmark05 with a 3200+ processor in.

Id take it back if your not happy.

One thing id like to know is does this take dual core processors. It doesnt say anything on asus's website.

Great system though at a cheap price and looks cool. id reccomend to anyone.

How is that even a slightly fair comparison? 7800GT >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> than any onboard graphics ever. To the OP, are the correct drivers for everything installed? That can really harm performance

I wasnt saying that. I was just saying that the pc seems to be fine to me and that if he doesnt like it to take it back.

He needs a dedicated gpu anyway cos onboard graphics are turd.

Well I'd always intended getting a graphics card for it,
But i thought i'd be able to get away with the onboard for a while as its ment to be equivlant to 9600 and i don't play games much.

But what about Superpi 1m around 55 seconds
That is Sh1t and has no bearing on graphics

    Edit. Typo

    Hi deckie27

I am sure you have posted this on other forums, including Asus's very own, but just to spread the message to others using google to solve the problem, here is the answer:

The process UliRaid.exe is started on boot-up, and uses 0 cpu usage in the task manager window (Ctrl Alt Del) But after some time, 10 - 30 mins typically, this process starts to use up to 35% cpu time in regular pulses at approximately 5 sec intervals. If the process is ended the problems clear up, games and video playback run smoothly.

In order to prevent it happening again, use regedit.exe, navigate to HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Current Version\Run and delete the key referring to ULiRaid.exe.

Why this irritating problem has not been discovered by Asus is beyond me, unless they assume everybody will be using a raid of SATA discs.
