Three 19" TFTs - Help Me Choose

OK, after hours of searching I have finally narrowed it down to three TFTs.

First up is the Viewsonic VX912 19" 8ms, 16.7 Million colours.

Second up is the Acer AL1951A 19" TFT 8ms 700:1 16.7 Million colours

Third up is the LG L1980Q 19" TFT 8ms 500:1

I'll probably choose the LG, since Viewsonic had always been over-specing their LCD monitors. No comment about the Acer.

Contrast ratio is not very important after you reach 500:1. Most people wouldn't turn the brightness of the monitor up too high in order to achieve actual rated 500:1

Erm i wouldn't go for the acer, i've noticed their TFTs don't do very well with dark colours (blacks become very horrible) Most stores like curries which have rows of TFTs will have windows with default wallpaper (bliss) on them, if you look at the dark green bit of the hills, then crank the gamma ratio on ur present display you will see like blue rectangles, thats what the acer displays tend to look like all the time with anything shadowie.

All three are quite similar.

LG only has 16.2 million colours, but gets really good reviews, and the base is a touch on the large side. But it does look superp.

All three have an 8ms response, 500:1 or greater contrast ratio, and all three look sexy.

I have a 19" veiwsonic. Best monitor i have ever bought. You should get it and i assure you that you wont be dissapointed.

Hows the dark colours on the monitor? Someone told me they are a bit off. Can u confirm or deny this?

I seen no problems with it. Ive played both doom 3 and quake IV on it and had no problems.

Went and had a look in PC world today, couldnt find the exact Acer model, but the ones I saw looked decent at best.

Couldnt find the LG model in store, but I came across an older Viewsonic model, looked very good.

Looks like I will be getting the Viewsonic then!

Im gonna be burning a lot of money, planning on buying a motorbike, tft screen, and a few upgrades for my comp.

i have the viewsonic, damm great screen but i just prefer the looks of the LG. However the base is big on the LG.

I have the LG, and it's brilliant. The base really doesn't get in the way, and the monitor is superb. It has a touch on/off button aswell, so no more switch. It also turns vertical if needed. Definately gets my vote.
