How to connect PC/Lappy to TV??

This sounds dumb....but how do you connect the PC/Laptop to the TV??

I've shoved in the S-Video cable from PC & Laptop to the S-Video-IN on the TV...switched to the S-Video channel and everything is in Black and White.

Also, if i dont put Windows into extended monitor, then i wont see anything at all.

My mate recommended me to get a S-Video to Scart...but surely the S-Video->S-Video should work a-ok??

    Advice please....

    Many thanks
    steve

Are both set of equipment from PAL equipped countries e.g. UK?
Is the TV set to PAL/NTSC (some older TVs allow you to change this!

At the moment I'm using a SVHS - Single Phono cable and it works perfectly.

Not too sure, but may I just make the recommendation to check that no pins are bent or broken (I've done that a few times now) and that you have the latest drivers for your graphics card.

Right after playing around with the laptop....i can get the tv to display colour. But only as part of an extended screen....not as the primary screen.

How can i get the laptop to use the tv as the display and not the monitor?

In the display settings there is usually an option for setting the primary and secondary displays (may just be for monitors and not TV.)

What gfx is it? I think radeon hydravision or sommit has a tab in the properties for selecting tv's as primary.
