Why not test it?
BTW, if you're talking about using as an internet connection rather than an ethernet connection, it won't make the faintest bit of difference.
Its for internet so i wont bother just maling sure the pc is running tip top.
Mind you ntl is playing up web pages takes ages to load and some pages are not there not bad for 2mb connection.
The bandwidth of those ports will be around 100mbit, (possibly gigabit, not sure without looking up) and your on a 2mbit connection, its never going to use it to its full capacity :)
However, over a network if you do a lot of file transfers, the faster would obviously speed that up, but if not, I shouldn't worry :)
As the others have said, seeing as you're using it for internet, it makes no difference whatsoever.
However, if you have a gigabit network, and are doing a lot of file transfers, one would normally go for the Intel controller. The problems there is that firstly, since it's on a 32-bit PCI bus, it'll never reach the full 125MB/s that gigabit LAN is theoretically capable of, and secondly, in my experience (I also have the 7NNXP), the faster the download rate, the slower the upload rate. Granted, I'm not certain if this was caused by the Intel controller, the gigabit switch, or my PCI bus getting saturated, but is something to keep in mind. At the time, my download rate topped out at 35MB/s, though that could just be the destination harddrive being too slow to keep up.
All that said, if you're not on a gigabit network copying lots of files, I'd stick to the nVidia controller. :)
I would have thought the nvidia port maybe slightly faster latency wise and bandwidth wise due to the fact it doesnt have to go through the PCI bus bottleneck. But someone tell me different coz its something I would like to know too.
no difference as the pc cant keep up with gb lan anyway even if ur doing file transfers as the hdds cant do 1gb a second
but if i had tio pick id say nvidia cos i like there chipsets :P
