Question Is my dual channel running dual channel?

    hi,
currently have 1x 512mb corsair xmspro3200 in slot 1 (asus a7n8x-e deluxe) and GeIL 1gb (2x512mb) in dual channel slots 2 and 3... now as i have slot 1 being used by a different piece of ram i.e. not all same model/make will this mean that my dual channel kit isn't running dual channel?

    any info would be appriecieated

It isnt running dual channel. U can only use two sticks of ram to run dual channel and they must be of the same speed and size eg 2 x 512 sticks pc3200 etc. You will have dual channel if you take the 512mb corsair out and put the 512mb from slot two into slot 1.

I think from the manual to my a7n8x deluxe rev 1.04 it's dual channel if slots 1 and 3 or slots 2 and 3 are used together. I think with all 3 used it's single channel but I doubt there's much of a performance loss and depending on what you're doing you may find the extra ram worthwhile.

What should happen is that 2x512Mb should be accessed at dual channel rates but the other 512Mb won't.
