anyone give me some advice to advise a mate who is wanting to buy a crossfire board and an amd64 3200
to go with his sapphire gto2 which i suggeted he buy first incase he cant get em when he does get a new pcie setup
looking for best prices and overclockability any suggestions ?
DFI Crossfire board. i dont like the EQS brand and not much info on the Sapphire yet.
The Sapphire boards are supposed to be excellent o/c ers. But they have weak USB performance (not sure how this effects the real world tho). Ive seen a couple of reviews that say simelar things cant remember the links tho, ill try and find them later
im not keen on eqs either, i will stick to more known brands to the overclocker i will go nd hve a look at some dfi boards an see the prices
im sure i heard something about the usb issue, it should be something that can be sorted with a bios update id like to hope
ovrclocking and stability will be more important than usb performance for him id imagine

I think i read the usb issue is to do with the southbridge normally used with the express200 cihpset, and the reason some get better performance is they use a different southbridge, ULI I think?

^ tis correct. TBH I don't think you will notice anything it's not as if the usb doesn't work. If your'e only using mouse/keyboard/memory stick there should be no issue. Very few xfire boards around atm.
But hey is the GTO2 Xfire compatible ? And running dual GTo2 seesm a bit pointless to me? Or he gonna upgrade later ?
