    New Goodies !!

Well I have just taken the plunge and ordered a whole load of gear. I thought that as some of you have been helping me choose the goods, you might like to know prices, sources and delivery details etc:

    Abit NF7-S V2.0 Komplett £64.78

    AMD XP2500+ Komplett £57.03

    Cooler Master HTK-001 Komplett £5.64

    Kingmax 2 * 256Mb
DDR RAM PC3200 (DDR400) PC Memory Upgrade £75.84

    Connect3D ATI
    Radeon 9600 XT 256mb Cannings £91.06

    Barracuda 7200.7 40GB Komplett £21.12

Cooler Master Aero Cool 7+ Komplett £22.00

    Q-Tec 6053 MDL Cannings £39.99

    Q-TecPSU 450W
    Dual Fan Gold Cannings £19.75

    Akasa 5.25" Fan
    Controller Pro Overclockers £31.95

The XP2500+ went up by £4 today. That was a bit annoying. Komplett price-matched the Cooler Master products for me, saving another £6 though. I thought that the 9600XT was a real bargain.

I started and finished ordering all this in 1 hour this afternoon so I will let you know how delivery goes tommorow.

Cheap hard drive, but a bit small mate. I would recommend at least an 80 gig one.

All in all though a nice budget system.

    http://www.accomputerwarehouse.com/p...ished+Monitors

my 21" cornerstone p1500 b grade came today, £59 inc delivery and vat! the monitor is A grade, but was damaged slighlty in delivery which go tme £20 off
    VERY nice monitor
    1600x1280@87hz

id recommend a diff psu tbh, the qtec 450w is only really about 350w, and thats gonna stress it if ur using that much.. iirc scan had some very cheap CWTs (they manufacture for antec, i think, which are the best, iirc)

also i wouldnt bother with fan controlers.. just make it quiet to start with...

    Q-Tec 6053 MDL = case?

btw, hd nice and cheap, perfect size for boot drive aswell, ull want the other hdd u buy later for storage, bets to keep it seperate... but the sgb 7200.7 iirc is not nearly as quiet as the other seagates.. if this wasnt sooo cheap id get a maxtor one...

also i dont know what wrong with kompletts site, but i think somming is - 8mb cache hdds are cheaper the 2mb ones.. also some 1 got a 120gb instead of a 160gb which were the same price when they ordered the 160.. id email em first to check the prices are right...

also id get 1x512mb instead of 2x256mb, afterall dual chan is only about 5% perf differnce AT MOST, i havent noticed it atall tbh. also 1 stick should be cheaper and will give u more free slots when u want total of 1gb.

ah, uve already orderd, nm, ignore this post

Hehe.. I did my "round 1" yesterday as well.
Received my GFX card already! (didn't expect before next week).

The odd thing is.. I mostly did the "accessories" so far.
    Case/Optical drives/Keyboard mouse (wireless )/ etc. etc.

    Round2: Memory/CPU/Motherboard/Thermal compound/HD/PSU.

Round3: Speakers is gona have to wait till holiday seasons..

BTW, nice price on the 9600XT

Did you really get it for that price? It's advertised at £43.25 at the moment! I'll be annoyed if I've missed out on that particular bargain...

Yes, the Barracuda was at that price, and they price matched the Cooler Master products for me as well. Not bad.

Thet first two deliveries arrived today from Canning and Overclockers. Everything in perfect condition. But yes the XT price was too good to be true. They delivered a plain 9600 256Mb. They have explained that they don't have any stock yet of the XT and that they will get P&P to deliver direct when the stock arrives with P&P. I will push them to charge me cost price for this as it is false advertising otherwise.

Can you tell me more about the Q tec PSU's d_fresh 1? Also, does anyone know what I should be looking for to attach the fan connector mini plug (3 pin black, red yellow) from the Akasa fan speed/temp monitor controller to a standard fan power connector.

    Thanks.

    £91.06 + VAT = £107

And you need to add shippings on top I think.

(Side note: That site looked too much like Scan for my taste)

Still would've been a good deal if it was an XT (or Pro for that matter). But a plain one? Urgh...

DO NOT get the Q-tec PSU.
Use the search box and find out peoples past experiences with them...
