    Addvice on New system please

Hi all i'm going to build a PC for my nephew using an Athlon 2000xp which i have on an ECS K7S5A board (which was a bit of a dog), the chip is nearly new so he should get a couple years out of it all being well. I have chosen the following Components Motherboard MSI K7N2 Delta FSR Socket A nforce2 AGP8x 5.1channel audio LAN, HD Excelstor ESJ880 80GB 7200rpm ATA/100 2MB Cache, Graphics Card Gainward Fx5500 256MB DVI TV-Out Retail Box, Ram Crucial 512mb DDR 333MHz PC2700 Memory Module (£34.78) or Crucial 512MB DDR PC2100 266MHz (£36.85).Which do you think would be best suited to the board
?? and why is the faster ram cheaper than the pc2100 ??, that might be an error on the e-buyer site wouldn't be the first time. Rom Drive Lite-On SOHD-16P9S 16x48x DVD-ROM Internal IDE (Beige) - Retail Box, OS Microsoft OEM Windows XP Home Edition SP2 - 1Pk, all the above will be bought from e-buyer when there back in stock. The Case i'm thinking of is this one from aria Emermax Twilight Midi 400W Black, i've had one of these before and it was ok. What do you think of the Motherboard ? have any of you used it ? do you know of any issues with it ??. The PC will not be overclocked and will mainly be used for School Work, the internet and to play a few games on like Call of Duty, Battlefield Vietnam, Medal of Honour, main requirement is that it be stable, any addvice on the above would be most appreciated thanks in advance. Could you please recomend a cpu heatsink i was going to use a Coolermaster CP5-8JD1F but dont seem to be able to find one cheer's.

154 people on ebuyer give rate that mainboard 5 stars - i think it will be OK

you want pc3200 ddr400 ram - crucial is good. There is no point buying the slower ram if the faster stuff is the same price. You can run the ram slower than specified to match your FSB speed for the CPU presumably 166 on the 2000xp

suggest a 9700pro 128mb from retekdirect - very good low cost graphics cards

256mb on a low end graphics card is just marketing spin to make it sound good. Go for a faster GPU with only 128mb will be better performance.

133 on the 2000xp I know what you mean about the k7s5a, utterly sh*t motherboard - ive got one in one of my servers. As ed said, get the pc3200, it'll be at about the same price. Have you considered the nf7-s v2? its a great motherboard, lets you ocerclock a bit aswell. Have you already got the graphics card? as ed said not a lot of point having that much memory on a card that can't make use of it.

Thats similar, this is the one I've got linky, works well with my barton 3200, and gives you a whole host of extras, including optical audio & conventional 5.1, SATA, Gigabit ethernet, etc. Its a great board and a pretty good overclocker. However the MSI is meant to be pretty good aswell, although I've never personally used one.
