    VIA EPIA M2-12000 Mini-ITX Board

I would like to use my Epia M2-12000 without a fan on the CPU heatsink.

Is there some way I can change the clock speed to a lower value, perhaps through a setting change in the Bios?

    Thanks

wincpuid lets you change the multiplier on some of those boards if i remember correctly. (details here)
alternatively find an AMD Copper flower (for socket A) and stick that on the CPU. (click for pic)

Why not get the lower speed version that already has the fanless setup done?

Its 600mhz or there is a new 800mhz version which both run windows xp fine

How have you fixed the flower heatsink onto the CPU?

    Which case are you using?

    Thanks

I think the 800Mhz ones are fan cooled, apart from the SP 800Mz version, which is still quite expensive.

I already have the M2-12000 and want to run it as quietly as possible by taking off the fan. I don't mind running the CPU slower as the application is mainly surfing and email on Windows 2000 platform.

What about using the Zalman Northbridge heatsink (the blue one)?

Thermal paste - the weight of the cooler means it stays on quite solidly. (although I wouldn't recommend moving the PC). Venus 668 case has *just* enough room for the heatsink.
